Each handmade trug basket is a fine piece of rural craftmanship and made in rural Sussex by our friend Kevin. He’s one of the last trug makers in the country.

The only difference between the trugs we sell and the ones being made centuries ago is that ours are Birch (FSC-approved Birch, of course) instead of the traditional Willow. Willow is great but does need a bit of looking after, you can leave Birch outside for ages and it will come to no harm.

It’s one of the reasons why these trugs have the BSI Kite Mark. There’s no need for varnish or any wood protection but if you really want to do something, dab a bit of Sunflower oil on.
